Students find their Groove at the Summer Rays Program

Posted On Monday July 16, 2018

Students in the Summer Rays Program at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School found their groove on Thursday, July 12 by dancing, moving, skipping and having fun. Groove Education visited the summer program and provided students with daily physical activity as part of the program’s well-being initiative.

“Staying active and fit is an important part of a student’s well-being,” noted Sarah Dowling, Principal of the Summer Rays Program at the Durham Catholic District School Board. “Daily physical activity has a positive impact on students’ achievement, readiness to learn, behaviour, and self-esteem.”

Students in the program participate in weekly activities, keep journals to record the memories, and build literacy skills.  Having fun and promoting awesomeness at Summer Rays! #DCDSBSummer18
